there is a story behind every book

Innovative new online platform enabling Booksellers to feature samples online

Jellybooks in partnership with bookshop chain Blackwell’s and with financial support from Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency, is launching an innovative new nationwide platform for book excerpts and audiobook snippets. This online platform will enable booksellers and publishers nationwide to enhance their online presence, enabling easier book discovery and wider reader engagement.

The innovative new platform will enable booksellers in the UK and Ireland to embed book excerpts and audio snippets as URLs on their bookstore websites, in their customer email newsletters and on social media.

The platform will host both narrative and illustrated books, as well as audiobooks, with the additional ability to generate QR codes for placement on book covers, posters, flyers and more.

How Booksellers and Publishers can get involved

Booksellers

Access and use of the platform will be free for any bookshop in the UK and Ireland. Booksellers can register their interest below. There is also more information for bookshops available here. Updates will be sent out by email to registered book retailers ahead of the launch in early 2021.

Publishers

For a modest annual fee, publishers can have excerpts, snippets and samples of their books available on the platform. This gives publishers the ability to distribute excerpts and snippets to bookshops and retailers, as well as use the links to display samples on their own website, and use in their social media and consumer and trade newsletters.

There is an easy-to-use submission portal for publishers wishing to upload only a small number of titles, as well as an API for publishers who have larger numbers of ePub files and book meta-data to submit either directly or via selected ebook distributors. Submissions will start being processed from November 2020 onwards. More information is available here and will also be sent by email to registered publishers.
